What started as an coincidental encounter turned out to be something more. A casual chat over the coffee table had turned into a sponsorship for a whole tournament.

After writing an email to Mr. Famous to tell him about a tournament that is being organized by a friend of mine, he was actually quite impressed with the email (that's what he said), and agreed to sponsor the whole tournament instead of one team. The whole process actually took only 1 day, and everything is set! He agreed to sponsor jerseys for all participating teams, and topped up the prize money too.

Initially the tournament was only organized for the men's team, banning all national players. However, Mr. Famous would like to have a girl's league as well. I told him that it wouldn't make a difference to me, as I'm usually labelled under 'national player' (even though the last time I played for Malaysia was... 5 years ago!). So, being Mr. Famous, he insisted to allow national players as well, just so that he could see us play ;)

In 1 week time, we have gone from being total strangers to having him sponsoring a tournament. People are usually stringent about sponsoring and giving money, but I guess this is a win win situation for him. He gets to promote his brand, and we get to play!

He's called 5 times today, or maybe more...
Maybe that is what bosses do-- Talking and building relationships & network. We'll see what happens.
