I was home alone, watching Oprah, when my neighbours rang our doorbell. Apparently, someone from our neighbourhood saw a suspicious figure wandering nearby my house. Although my neighbours immediately came and checked it out, they could not trace that person.
How scary! Nowadays, I wouldn't trust anyone, especially strangers. Places that are usually safe are not so safe anymore. Unfortunate cases could be heard almost every day. Is Malaysia not safe anymore??!
Mr. Famous called today! What a surprise. "I have been waiting for your email. Do you want me to sponsor? I take my words seriously. If I promise to give, I will do it." Impressive.
In our phone conversation, he asked if I knew anyone that would work for him as a marketing/sales person, and of course, the sports attire designer again (Me! Me!). When I recommended a friend, he sort of said no. This is his theory/reasoning--The first criteria for hiring a front-liner (for the sales position) is that the person should be 'presentable'. He actually said, "Good look is my first priority for hiring. If a person is not so good looking, it'd hamper the first impression upon the customer... Oh I'm just being honest. I don't beat around the bush. I mean what I say."
I think there is some truth to his theory, but come on... Reality is sometimes... too real, cruel even. I know that employers can't discriminate against sex and gender. Is there a law to protect job seekers from being discriminated against their looks?
On leave tomorrow. I'm thinking shopping!!
